The United
Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) is an initiative of
the
United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to offer the
Humanitarian community the benefit of its aviation experience
and expertise through providing a safe, economical, responsive
and efficient air transport service.
Although WFP
organises and manages the service, it is a common service for the
benefit of all eligible users in which all user have an equal and
fair opportunity.
UNHAS started to operate on a fixed
schedule on Saturday 9 August 2003 linking Abidjan, Freetown
and Monrovia.
