Report
on the DPRK Nutrition Assessment October 2002
In 2002, the Government of the DPRK, in
co-operation with UNICEF and WFP, carried out a nutrition
assessment in seven provinces and three cities. Fieldwork for
the assessment was completed in October 2002. The aim of the
assessment was to determine the nutritional status of children
less than seven years of age and of their mothers, and to
analyse the importance of possible causal factors. In this
report the Central Bureau of Statistics presents the situation
of the "youngest child of 6,000 selected households"
as well as findings related to causal factors.
Estimated
Child Malnutrition by WFP and UNICEF as expressed by height for
age in 7 provinces and 3 cities of DPRK based on the 2002
